Hi,
We’re taught to think intimacy is about grand gestures — big declarations, dramatic moments. But the truth is, it’s so often hidden in the smallest things. The quiet reassurances. The unspoken trust. The words that feel ordinary, but land in your chest like safety.
That’s what this piece is about: the simple, everyday ways love says I’m here.
Poem:
The Intimacy Of
The intimacy of
“for you, I would.”
The intimacy of
“you remembered?”
“of course I did.”
The intimacy of
“I wanna do this with you.”
The intimacy of reassurance.
The intimacy of love
that teaches your body
what calm feels like.
The intimacy of letting someone witness
the weight of your grief.
The intimacy of being completely at ease,
naked and unguarded,
in their presence.
Physically, spiritually,
and mentally.
The intimacy of
“I just wanted to hear your voice.”
The intimacy of
“no rush, take your time.
I’m here whenever you’re ready.”
The intimacy of
“this song made me think of you.”
The intimacy of
“I love the way your mind works.”
The intimacy of
“text me when you get home,”
said like a prayer.
The intimacy of forgiving yourself
for the days you gave up on you.
The intimacy of finally trusting yourself
to be alone
and know you are enough.
We don’t always need love to be loud. Sometimes its truest form is quiet, simple, and steady. Sometimes it sounds like safety instead of passion. And maybe that’s the kind of intimacy that lasts the longest.
